Health Policy Reform

As the ink begins to dry on the new health reform legislation, it’s important to take a hard look at the issues raised during the health reform debate, their resolution, and their impact on key stakeholders. The Pharmaceutical Institute's e-course modules on Health Policy Reform, developed in partnership with subject-matter experts from Campbell Alliance, provide the background necessary to understand the policy changes. The e-courses also provide a comprehensive view of the new law and its implications for the US public, businesses, and the healthcare industry.
Health Policy Primer is the first in the two-course series. Topics covered in the Health Policy Primer e-course include:
- Health Policy Stakeholders: Introduces key players in the development of health policy and leaders spearheading current efforts to achieve health insurance reform.
- US Health Coverage - A Current View: Provides an overview of the existing US health insurance landscape and the roles played by both commercial health plans and the major government insurance programs.
- Health Reform Options: Clarifies the confusing array of reform options currently under consideration and explains possible implications for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector.
- Hot Topics: Explores recent or proposed “movement” on pressing issues related to healthcare quality and cost, including Medicare Part D non-interference clause, comparative effectiveness research, drug reimportation, health information technology, and follow-on biologics.
